The OnBoard scheme to encourage children to take up sailing has been gathering pace in North Wales with the first regatta event being held in Pwllheli.
Around 30 children between the ages of eight and seventeen took part, after enjoying starter sessions at their clubs as part of the OnBoard scheme to open up sailing as an opportunity for as many children as possible.
It is intended to develop social sailors as well as trying to find the next Ben Ainslie or Ellen MacArthur.
More than 160,000 children have been through the scheme nationally at more than 150 clubs, with around 8,000 going on to take up either sailing or windsurfing.
Children from Holyhead, Felinheli, Pwllheli, Llandudno, Plas Menai and Shotwick took part in the regatta.
Holyhead 10-year-old Cairon Jones won the Optimists fleet, with 14-year-old James Davies from Pwllheli coming out on top in the Topper class.
Clubmate Joe Bowen, aged 17, won the handicap event while Plas Menai's Will Roberts, aged 14, took the windsurfing honours.
OnBoard development officer Cai Roberts said, "The enthusiasm and enjoyment of the kids made it a very successful weekend.
"There was coaching on the Saturday morning followed by racing in the afternoon and then on Sunday.
"Despite some light winds at times which affected the racing, everyone did really well and coped with the conditions."
