The Welsh Yachting Association(WYA) is the National Governing Body for all boating related activity in Wales. This is defined within our Articles “as any activity which is of a sporting, recreational, related professional or other nature and is carried out in water borne craft of any description which is powered by the wind or by mechanical means but not including paddle sports”.

WYA is the Royal Yachting Associations(RYA) Council for Wales. The RYA is the UK Governing Body and a member of the National Authority of the International Sailing Federation(ISAF).

We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced individual to act as our Child Protection and Safeguarding Lead Officer.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they have the ability to work on their own initiative whilst keeping others informed, and to organise their time effectively. The successful candidate will ideally have professional experience from a child welfare, social services, teaching or police service background and have a sound knowledge of child protection/welfare legislation, a proven people and project management ability and excellent communication skills.

The post is home based, with central support through the WYA Head Office and will consist of a 30 day annual contract paid at the rate of £60.00 a day, travel and subsistence will be paid in line with the current WYA policies. The successful applicant will be expected to travel to meetings with the RYA, NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit, Sport Wales and Welsh Clubs, as well as attend National Events and conferences.
